A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt Thursday declared the Accord Party governorship candidate in Rivers State, Dumo Lulu Briggs, unfit to contest in the March 9 governorship election. According to the presiding judge, Justice Emmanuel Obile, Lulu Briggs did not participate in the primaries conducted on October 4, 2018. The judge said Briggs was a governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the time of conducting the primary. Obile, therefore, declared Briggs’ candidacy as null, void and unconstitutional. The police have arrested a 60-year old man, one Benjamin Omole, for allegedly engaging an 11-year old girl in sex romps in Surulere area of Lagos, where they reside. It was gathered that Omole lured the victim into his apartment, removed her clothes and defiled her before allowing her to go but warned her not to tell anyone. However, the matter got exposed after the parents noticed changes in the victim’s behaviour and body. She was confronted and she revealed that Omole, popularly called Baba, had been sleeping with her. The matter was reported to the police in the area and Omole was arrested. The matter was later transferred to the Gender Section of the State Command for investigation. It was gathered that the suspect, Omole, admitted that he slept with the 11-year old girl but narrated that he did not force her as claimed by her parents. A 25-year-old man identified as Monsuru Hamzat, was killed during the presidential and national assembly elections last Saturday in Ibadan, Oyo state. It was gathered that the deceased by a notorious gang in the area known as the 'One million boys' who stormed polling units 13 and 14 in Lako area and shot sporadically. “We saw them from afar, they were youths armed with brand new guns. They told us they are One million boys; thus, their aim was to snatch ballot boxes and not to harm anybody. The 14-year old girl who was defiled by five men at Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region says she has been contemplating suicide for some time now. The traumatised girl dropped out of school at Class Four after her ordeal and says she is being haunted by the dastardly incident which has left her with life-threatening complications. Her revelations come as the Nkawkaw police arrest a third suspect, Awudu Kamiru, an 18-year-old head porter. The victim was strangled by her attackers in an attempt to murder her after having sexual intercourse with her in turns. The attackers confessed to Nhyira FM the plan was to conceal their illegal act and avoid a possible arrest. But a Good Samaritan who found her in an unconscious state in the Trado stream saved her life.
